About me
I make brands that look right on a tote bag, a wayfinding sign, and a landing page, and that make sense in all three, no matter where someone first meets them.
How I got here
I grew up between Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, and it taught me that the same idea reads differently depending on who’s looking. SCAD and Pratt built my craft. Timothy Goodman’s studio put me on brand and editorial projects. Three years of transit wayfinding at Via Collective taught me systems: millions of riders, no time to figure it out. Now I want to bring all of it to a team that cares about brand.
Outside work
I write Char Siu Pizza, a Substack on culture through everyday objects. This year I started running rigorously and ran my first half marathon (2hr 22 mins). Love rock climbing, watches, and furniture. A variety of interests that keep me busy outside of design.
What I'm looking for
I'm looking to join an early-stage team as a brand designer or brand lead. If that's you, say hello: jamesdtupling@gmail.com · LinkedIn
